Green Flash Brewing Barleywine Style Ale
“Listen, you fuckers, you screwheads. Here is a man who would not take it anymore. A man who stood up against the scum, the cunts, the dogs, the filth, the shit. Here is a man who stood up!”
this beer is a liquid form of travis bickle… maybe not, but thats exactly the quote that came to my mind the second i tasted this. a strong punch and a strong ale; malted and seasoned, with a long lasting after taste of hops. im not really a barelywine expert, but im loving the big carbonation and big alcohol content
these two i’ve saved as my birthday beer, and as i will be in portland next weekend; im having them tonite.
St Feuillien and Green Flash colab
still a really fucking heady pour, but i saved a bottle, and am glad i did… the pic is the pour of this… HEAD FOR DAYS… and i think my pallet is up to this pay grade now :)
and….
Fuck man, this is my FAVORITE beer. bar none…. and i never can get it locally again :(
(allagash doesn’t ship to WA anymore)… but thanks to mike i got one for my bday. i owe him some beer and a hug.
Green Flash Brewing Co: Grand Cru
Grade: B
SO MUCH MALT. OMFG. you like malty beers? …. JESUS H CHRIST, DRINK THIS ONE. its too malty for me, but at least it has balance.
Tasting Notes: Malts Malts Malts Malts Malts (pretend you’re singing meow mix song)
Green Flash Brewing Co: Trippel
Grade: B (really an A for non-Belgian beer lovers)
its cold outside, and i want heavy, boozy beers… if not, i’ll have some single-malt scotch. belgian style beers are perfect winters beers, and this is a great winter beer. sweet, malty, boozy, blah blah blah, etc. actual “belgian” beers from “belgia” have this specific and special flavor profile—an almost razor sharp malt that cuts through any flavored mayo dip you may be using on your pomme frites. this beer does not have that, but it has the spirit of the breed. its the easiest drinking trippel i’ve ever had, which isn’t a bad thing and im going to buy some for my pops as his “belgian-style beer starter kit”
Tasting Notes: Honey, Grain Mill Dust, Roasted Red Peppers, Raspberry … tastes like Journey
Green Flash Brewing Co: Imperial India Pale Ale
Grade: B+
this one is on the sweeter side of the IPA spectrum, and personally, that not my thing. but, this is a GREAT beer. the same ppl who like the avery style super malty IPAs, will LOVE this one. i love it! i made my dad buy two!
Tasting Notes: Caramel, Wheat, Pepper, Honey, Bioflavinoids.
Pairs Well With: Spicy Hot Wings, Thai Curry (4-5 stars), Strippers (of any race/gender/sexual preference/hair color that goes with spicy food of your preference)
Green Flash & Brasserie St. Feuillien: Bière De L’Amitié
Grade: Strange
what a strange beer. firstly, its a really heady pour… no mater how slow or dainty i do it…. its like the foam of ages. and wow, its spicy, with a totally ascorbic aftertaste. and very peaty… like an islay whisky. this one might be above the pay grade of my palette. advanced beer is advanced.
Tasting Notes: Licorice, Taro, Mushrooms (crimini), Sea Water, Honey, Barley Wine, Pizza
